La Bien Aimée comes to Miss Kits

La Bien Aimée is a hand-dyed yarn brand globally known for its high quality and impressive color palette that operates in the heart of Paris.

Before embarking on the adventure of having her own hand-dyed yarns brand, Amy had a small yarn store in Paris where she sold some premium brands such as Sweet Georgia, Medline Tosh, Koigu,... But amid this great variety of yarns, she still missed a type of yarn that she couldn't find anywhere else. So she decided to make it herself, and in 2015 she started her own line of hand-dyed yarns.

With a clear business vision, Amy opened first a small studio and after a big laboratory where her team thinks in colors, blends dyes, and makes magic giving color to high-quality yarn skeins.

Born in Kansas (USA), Amy went to live in Paris in 2003 after marrying Julien, his husband and partner in this business adventure that has gone through different stages like the initial opening of a knit cafe, L'Oisive Thé, and the small yarn shop, that later evolved to the mythic La Bien Aimée bright yellow facade.

Sadly, 2020 and the already COVID-19 pandemic had its toll on Amy, that this year's Spring had to take the hard decision to close the yarn store and the cafe.

But now La Bien Aimée is stronger than ever, focused on the hand-dying of yarns that don't leave anyone indifferent and selling her skeins worldwide through carefully handpicked stockists like Miss Kits.

What most characterizes La Bien Aimée's impressive hand-dyed yarns is its wide palette of semi-solid colors and speckled yarns that perfectly match and complement each other. You could take two skeins of La Bien Aimée at random, and they wouldn't clash; Amy jokes that all her skeins have some pink speckle on them. And that's because all the colors of La Bien Aimée's hand-dyed skeins are thought, planned, and often created from a specific project. She usually collaborates with designers such as Andrea Mowry, Joji Locatelli, Stephen West,... for whom she dyes new colors and bases according to their designs.

On other occasions, Amy gets inspiration in everyday scenes, places of Paris, her travels, her friends, or her favorite TV shows to create her colors and give them names.

Now you can find La Bien Aimée skeins in her Merino Super Sock base at Miss Kits, in our local yarn store in Madrid, and online.
