Drops Baby Merino

DROPS Baby Merino is the thinnest quality in the DROPS 100% merino yarn range. It has been spun with merino extra fine wool, the finest and smoothest of merinos, from free-range sheep in South America.  

From all kinds of wool, Merino wool is the softest one. If you are looking for a wool that doesn't give problems and is itch-free, merino wool is your choice, It is ideal to knit garments for people with sensitive skin and for babies.

DROPS Baby Merino yarn balls have been spun from multiple thin merino wool strands with the cable spun method. With this method of spinning, the plies of the yarn and the final yarn itself have been plied in oposite directions. This makes that garments knitted with it don't have the tendency to bias to a direction for excess of twist, don't have a completely vertical left leg in knitted stitches and, especially, it makes that the final fabric has a clearly defined stitch, with a well-balanced and beautiful result.

DROPS Baby Merino is a strong voluminous and very elastic yarn thanks to how it has been spun. Take that in account as you knit: to get a correct tension, with a pretty and well-defined stitch, tension must be rather tighter. So if you already know that you knit loosely, use smaller needles to get a perfect knit.

Merino wool, due to its smoothness, is perfect to knit garments that are in direct contact with the skin.

To knit a set of pants and sweater for a newborn you will need 4 yarn balls. If you want to make a crib blanket it will take 6 yarn balls.

To knit a long-sleeved pullover in size L you will need around 8 yarn balls of DROPS Baby Merino, but remember that this is just an indication and that you must make a tension swatch to calculate how much yarn you really need according to your own tension and the chosen stitch pattern. 

As a final advice, although these yarn balls are great for everyday use and the garments made with them endure a lot of work, remember to don't wash your garment too warm, never leave it to soak and let the garment dry flat.
