Description

Yama is Tréliz base with yak fibres, what gives a darker tone to the skeins.

For sure, what had caught your attention is its composition. It is not very usual to find skeins with yak fibres.

Yaks are long-haired domesticated bovids found throughout the Himalayan region, the Tibetan plateau, Mongolia and Russia.

Yaks may have their hair in a huge range of colors, but the most common are grey hues, browns and other dark tones.

Lise, the young greek indie dyer behind TréLiz, loves bright and vibrant colors. But if you like more calm colors, you will love Yama base. Although Tréliz Yama only has 20% yak, this already gives a darker hue to these hand dyed skeins.

Lise is a young greek indie-dyer who loves bright colors and pop culture. I her hand dyed skeins you will notice that she has been inspired by Harry Potter books (with an amazing gray and yellow fade) or Nintendo video games (with colors devoted to Mario, Wario and Zelda). The name of her collections will give you a clue of the source of her inspiration.

Yak wool is soft, warm and resistant. Considered "luxury cashmere", the yak is around 16-20 microns thick, giving it extraordinary softness and lightness. Historically, yak wool had been worn by Chinese emperors and sheltered nomadic people of Siberia in blankets, tents and garments in their silk road. Nowadays, yak is used in luxury garments and haute couture.

With Tréliz Yama you can knit the softest, warmest and most elegant sweaters of your closet. Being a fingering weight yarn you won't lack ideas to knit pullovers, cardigans or any other accessory.

As it has 10% nylon in its composition, with Tréliz Yama you can also knit resistant and extremely luxurious socks, perfect to keep your feet warm.
