Description

DROPS Kid-silk is a luxurious yarn made only of the best quality natural fibers: 75% super kid mohair and 25% mulberry silk.

DROPS Kid-silk is an extremely light thread, in terms of weight and thickness. It can be used alone (to knit light and sophisticated garments such as shawls and women's tops) or combined with other yarns to give a soft halo and extra warmth to the garments.

Made of mohair and mulberry silk, this yarn is extremely warm despite its fine thickness. Due to its texture, DROPS Kid-silk is ideal for when we want to work with large needles and we do not want fresh air to pass through the stitches: by combining any other yarn with this one, whose hair covers the holes, we get warmer garments without losing the lightness.

DROPS Kid-silk has a wide range of colors among which you can find solid tones as well as "long print" yarn balls in which the colors change in regular repetitions and random lengths.

Keep in mind that, just like when mixing paints on a palette, when working with DROPS Kid-silk and another thread at the same time, their tones will mix and you will get a unique third color, the result of the different intensities of the other two. To make sure you like the color, make a small swatch before embarking on a larger project.

You can also work with several strands of DROPS Kid-silk together for warm and extremely lightweight garments, an strategy widely used by designers like PetiteKnit with her Fortune Sweater, Cumulus Blouse, Saturday Night Sweater patterns and many others that she has dubbed as "mohair edition".

You can turn any of your favorite patterns into "mohair edition" too by making a tension swatch to be able to correctly calculate how many strands to work together to get the necessary thickness, as well as calculate how many yarn balls you will need.
