Drops Nepal

DROPS Nepal is an aran weight yarn spun from 3 strands with a blend of 65% Peruvian Highland wool and 35% superfine alpaca.

These yarn balls contain natural fibers that have not undergone to any chemical treatment prior to dyeing. On one hand this enhances the natural properties of the fibers and on the other hand we acquire a product with a better shape and quality of texture. Keep in mind that as they do not have any treatment and contain alpaca, garments knitted with DROPS Nepal must be hand washed, unless you want to make a felt accessory, such as mittens or a hat.

This thick and nice yarn is, for its composition and fabrication, the worsted version of DROPS Lima. What is a worsted weight yarn? Well, the truth is that it is a quite ambiguous term. We often say that worsted weight is a yarn slightly thicker than a DK and slightly finer than an aran weight one, and in many patterns they are interchangeable thicknesses. In the United States they call worsted what in the United Kingdom they call aran. And DROPS Nepal manufacturer itself classifies this yarn as of aran / worsted thickness, showing the versatility of the yarn for many of the patterns available in any of these thicknesses. Garments made with DROPS Nepal are soft, thanks to the alpaca, and with a rustic stitch definition that creates stable and uniform garments, thanks to the wool. This is an easy yarn to use in knitting and crochet projects and is also great for felting projects. 

Colors of DROPS Nepal have been obtained carding together the different dyed fibers and proceeding later to the spinning of the yarn. This gives us mix colors, that show a mixed effect in which the different tones can be glimpsed by separate.

To knit a simple long-sleeved sweater in size L with DROPS Nepal you will need around 14 yarn balls. This estimation may vary depending on your tension, the stitch pattern you choose, the final lenght of the sweater... make a tension swatch to adjust the calculation.
