Description

Supersoft by Holst Garn brand is a kind of Shetland wool that will completely change your way to understand your knitting.

This rustic yarn comes unwashed, which means that it still contains a little spinning oil. That makes that the perception of this yarn changes completely after its first wash: when the oil is removed, this wool relaxes, blooms, and offers a more fluffy and soft fabric that fills all the little holes in the knit.

For this reason, more than never, it is essential that when you are going to knit a project with Holst Garn Supersoft you make a tension swatch before. Wash it and let it dry before form an opinion or measure your stitches. You will notice how your project changes once blocked, which will give you lots of joys but will also bring surprises if you have not made a tension swatch nor treated as you will do with your finished sweater.

Holst Garn Supersoft are non-superwash pure new wool yarn balls. Despite this, you can put your garments in the washing machine, as long as you use a delicate program for wool, with cold water. Anyway, we suggest always hand wash the garments in which you put so many hours of knitting dedication. 

Holst Garn Supersoft is a blend of 50% merino wool and 50% Shetland wool, available in 50 gr yarn balls with approximately 287 meters / 324 yards, which classifies it as light fingering weight yarn. You have more than 100 different shades to choose from!

You can knit this yarn with one thread with 3 -3.5 mm needles or with two threads with 4 - 4.5 mm needles.

The wool of Holst Garn comes from New Zealand and Australia, from non-mulesing farms, so Holst Garn Supersoft is free from animal abuse yarn.

Holst Garn is a Danish brand run by Helle Holst, a die-hard knitter who wanted more options for her knitting projects. Helle wanted to be able to create her own color combinations, having a diverse palette of colors where to choose, and, above all, she wanted to play with all these colors without having to make a huge inversion in her (and your) sweaters.  Thus Holst Garn was born, a company that offers great quality yarns, with a wide range of colors and with prices that will be a joy for your pocket.    

With your Holst Garn Supersoft yarn balls, you can make high quality knit and crochet garments in a great variety of colors. Its 50gr size makes it perfect for projects with a lot of colorwork, like Shetland or Fair Isle sweaters or many designs by Gudrun Johnston or Kate Davies.

If you have to handle your first steeking project (cut a circular knitted project to get a cardigan, a V-neck, or put some sleeves), this yarn is perfect. On the one hand, for its fibers' capacity to hold on the place and don't unravel. On the other hand, its affordable price will allow you to make as many tests as you need before you get the confidence to see that steek is not as scary as you thought before cutting your sweater.

To knit a long-sleeved sweater in size L, you may need 6 yarn balls of Holst Garn Supersoft. Remember that this is only an indication and that your own tension, pattern, stitch pattern,.... may change this quantity. Make a tension swatch, and remember that for this yarn is something fundamental to do.
